Where to start
Historic gold, with a story to tell.
Explore earlier Sovereigns and classic world gold coins. Compare the gold content, condition and price of each available piece.
The Sovereign, in every size
Half, full and larger, from Victoria to this year's coin. UK legal tender, so free of Capital Gains Tax for UK residents however much they gain.
Britannia, a tenth of an ounce to a full one
The Royal Mint's flagship coin, struck in .9999 fine gold from a tenth of an ounce to a full ounce. The coins are UK legal tender, which is what makes them free of Capital Gains Tax for UK residents. This shelf also carries Britannia minted bars: the same fineness and the same VAT exemption, but a bar is not legal tender, so the Capital Gains Tax exemption does not apply to it.
Bars, one gram to one kilo
The plainest way to hold gold, and often the lowest premium — though that depends on the product and the size. A kilo bar costs far less per gram than a one gram bar, and a large bar can come in under a coin of the same weight. Compare the price per gram of fine gold rather than the ticket price. Every bar here is .9999 fine from an LBMA approved refiner.
Two tax breaks worth knowing about
They are separate things and they are easy to confuse. Together they decide a lot of what is worth buying.
Everything we sell is VAT free
Investment gold is exempt from VAT in the United Kingdom, coins and bars alike. There is no VAT to pay on anything in this catalogue.
Shop all goldAnd these are free of CGT too
UK legal tender coins are exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents, however much they gain. Sovereigns, Britannias and Tudor Beasts all qualify. Bars and foreign coins do not.
